In a central heating system, zone valves control the supply of hot water to the various areas (zones) in a building. Zone valves are used for extra comfort, but also to save energy. Different types of valves are used as a zone valve. Electric actuated ball valves are particularly suitable for this application. They close gradually (no water hammer), are energy efficient and have a long life span. Electric actuated ball valves usually require electric power for both opening and closing.
