This float switch of the brand MAC3 is ideally suited to control the level of a tank, a reservoir or a pond. Mac5 series is suitable for use in sewage water, in industrial waste water and in tumultuous water. The switch comes with a 20 meter cable and a counterweight is already built into the body of the float. The smallest controllable level change is approximately 20 cm. The device switches at an angle of about 45 degrees, through a mechanical switch. The rated switching max voltage is 250V AC, but can be used at lower voltage (i.e. 110V, 220V, 240V, etc.). The switch has a changeover contact, so it can be used for normally closed (NC) or normally open (NO) operation. It has three lead wires: common, NC and NO. By connecting the circuit to the common lead and either one of the other two lead wires, you can choose between NC and NO operation. In other words, you can decide whether the switch should make contact when the float is in the lifted or hanging situation. Typically, a normally open float switch is "on" when the float is down below a pre-set level (gravity forces it down) and turns "off" as it rises to the pre-set level. A normally closed float switch works opposite. It is closed when hanging down and on when it is above the pre-set level. NC or NO operation depends on wiring. It can be used to switch a pump or an alarm and has an IP68 rating.
Please read the manual carefully before connecting the float switch.

Common applications:

Sump pumps and monitoring water levels is the most common applications. The float switch can shut off a pump that is filling the tank with water when the float goes up to a pre-set level. When the tank empties, the float drops below this level and the pump can pump water back in. It can also work by pumping water out when it reaches a pre-set level.

Pros:

  • Can be used for normally closed or normally open operation
  • Including a 20 meter cable
  • The mechanical switch is rated for voltages up to a max of 250V AC at a max load of 3 A
  • Robust watertight PP housing (IP68 certified)
  • With a double liquid proof chamber and a counterweight built into the body of the float switch
  • Maximum depth level: 20 m

Mac5 series

The Mac5 level regulator from MAC3 allows electrical equipment to start and stop automatically (usually pumps, storage tanks, alarms, electric control valves etc.). The Mac5 is a dual purpose float switch, intended for use in both clean and dirty water. Its principal feature is the heavy body which is free of any irregularity what makes this switch ideal for use in sewage water, industrial waste water (with agglomearate residues) and in tumultuous water. The polypropylene body of the Mac5 level regulator is made with a double liquid proof chamber and a counterweight built into the body of the float. Some models are ATEX certified up to Ex-zone 2.
