Tool Balancers

Select and buy a tool balancer online for your application. To support the weight of hand-operated tools, pneumatic hoses, and other equipment, they can be balanced by tool balancers rather than the operator. For the operator, the constant lifting and holding of heavy weights caused by the hand-operated tools can lead to fatigue and health issues over time. Tool balancers act as an easy fix by carrying the tool's weight, increasing productivity, safety, and efficiency. When purchasing a tool balancer several selection criteria should be considered, such as the maximum weight that needs to be supported, the application it is used for, and cost. There are three different types of tool balancers, namely retractor tool balancers, hose reel tool balancers, and zero gravity tool balancers.

Retractor tool balancer

The retractor tool balancer is the most commonly used tool balancer in production facilities, while it is rated to carry less weight, it is also the most cost-effective version available. A reel is set up slightly above the tools, and the tools are connected to the end of it. By pulling down the cable of the balancer, the operator can hold the tool and simply release it to retract the tool back up via an internal spring mechanism. They provide a constant up force on the tool.

Hose reel tool balancers

Hose reel tool balancers are also powered by an internal spring mechanism. These reels use a pneumatic hose as a support cable and are designed for small pneumatic tools. Hose reel tool balancers are made specifically for pneumatic applications and are not suitable to be used for different purposes. They help keep work benches clean for pneumatic tools. They provide a constant up force on the tool.

Zero gravity tool balancers

Compared to other tool balancers, zero gravity tool balancers are rated to carry the most weight. The weight capacity makes this design ideal for heavy-duty tool applications. In contrast to internal spring mechanisms, zero-gravity tool balancers do not exert upward pressure on users. As soon as the tool is released, it stays in the same place. This is even better for the operator as they are then not exerting a downwards force when using a tool, like they are with the retractor or hose reel tool balancers.
