This Belimo electrical actuator is designed for controlling quarter turn valves. The actuator delivers a torque of 40 Nm and can open/close the valve in 150 seconds. This actuator requires a supply voltage of 24 V AC/DC and has a visual positioning indicator to clearly see the valve position. The actuator features BACnet IP/Modbus TCP control, enabling versatile communication and interoperability with other systems for streamlined control and monitoring capabilities. The actuator simultaneously positions the valve as the integrated capacitors are charged. In case of a power supply interruption, the valve automatically returns to the open/close position using stored electrical energy. Actuator mounts to a quarter turn valve with an ISO 5211 F05 flanges. The actuator has a durable plastic housing and has an IP40 protection rating. This actuator can operate within ambient temperatures between -30 and 50 °C (-22 and 122 °F). The actuator comes with a 1-meter power cable.

The actuator is equipped with overload protection, the actuator doesn't need limit switches and will stop automatically when the end stop is reached. Manual override is possible using a push-button, which disengages the gear train as long as the button is pressed or remains locked. Manual triggering of adaptation can be done by pressing the "Adaptation" button. Both mechanical end stops are detected during the adaptation (entire setting range). The actuator then moves into the position defined by the control signal. The actuator can be directly mounted on the rotary or butterfly valve with a mounting flange. The mounting orientation relative to the valve can be selected in 90° increments. The actuator is controlled via the Cloud, BACnet IP, or Modbus TCP and moves to the position defined by the control signal. Various data points can be written and read via the same interfaces. In hybrid mode, the actuator receives its analog control signal from the higher-level controller and moves to the defined position. Various data points can be read and written (except for the control signal) using the Cloud, BACnet IP, or Modbus TCP. The actuator moves the valve to the desired operating position simultaneously as the integrated capacitors charge. If the power supply is interrupted, the valve shifts to the chosen fail-safe position using the stored electrical energy. The rotation angle can be adjusted with mechanical end stops. The recorded data (integrated data recording for 13 months) can be utilized for analytical purposes. CSV files can be downloaded via a web browser. The capacitor actuators require a pre-charging period to bring the capacitors to a usable voltage level. This ensures that, in case of a power failure, the actuator can move from its current position into the fail-safe position at any time. The rotary knob fail-safe position allows for adjusting the preferred fail-safe position. In case of a power outage, the actuator moves to the selected fail-safe position, considering the factory-set bridging time of 2 seconds. Post-factory delivery, the actuator is fully discharged and requires about 20 seconds of pre-charging before initial setup to attain the necessary voltage level in the capacitors.

Pros:

  • The actuator can be mounted on the valve via the ISO 5211 F05 flange
  • The actuator is equipped with a fail-safe feature
  • Manual override
  • The actuator is overload protected
  • Visual position indicator

Cons:

  • The time to open/close of 150 s is slow for some applications
