This Belimo ZoneTight electrical actuator is designed for controlling quarter turn valves. The actuator delivers a torque of 1 Nm and can open/close the valve in 75 seconds. This actuator requires a supply voltage of 24 V AC/DC and has a visual positioning indicator to clearly see the valve position. The modulating actuator is requires a 2-10 V input and offers position feedback, ensuring precise control over its operation and accurate monitoring of its position within the designated voltage range. The actuator simultaneously positions the valve as the integrated capacitors are charged. In case of a power supply interruption, the valve automatically returns to the open position using stored electrical energy. The actuator has a durable plastic housing and has an IP40 protection rating. This actuator can operate within ambient temperatures between 5 and 40 °C (41 and 104 °F). A power cable can be easily attached via the terminal block.

The actuator is equipped with overload protection, the actuator doesn't need limit switches and will stop automatically when the end stop is reached. Remove the actuator by clicking it out, and then use the actuator to rotate the valve spindle. The actuator can be hand-mounted onto the valve without requiring tools. Just ensure only vertical movements (Caution!). The pins should align with the flange holes. The mounting orientation can be configured in 180° increments in relation to the valve. The actuator's rotation angle can be adjusted in increments of 2.5° using a clip. This feature is used for setting the valve's maximum flow rate. The actuator can be controlled with a standard control signal of 2-10 V and moves to the position dictated by the control signal. Voltage measurement is employed both for visually displaying the valve position within the 0.5% to 100% range and as a control signal for other actuators. The rotation angle can be adjusted with mechanical end stops. The capacitor actuators require a pre-charging period to bring the capacitors to a usable voltage level. This ensures that, in case of a power failure, the actuator can move from its current position into the fail-safe position at any time. After factory delivery, the actuator is fully discharged and requires approximately 25 seconds of pre-charging before the initial setup to elevate the capacitors to the necessary voltage level.

Pros:

  • The actuator is equipped with a fail-safe feature
  • Modulating actuator with a control signal of 2-10 V
  • Manual override
  • The actuator is overload protected
  • Visual position indicator

Cons:

  • The time to open/close of 75 s is slow for some applications
