Belimo Actuator for Globe Valve Fail-Safe 32mm Stroke 24VAC/DC 2000N BACnet/Modbus/MP-Bus IP54 150s AVK24A-MOD
This Belimo linear electrical actuator is designed for controlling globe valves. The stroke length is 32 mm. The actuator delivers a force of 2000 N and can open/close the valve in 150 seconds. This actuator requires a supply voltage of 24 V AC/DC and has a visual positioning indicator to clearly see the valve position. The actuator supports BACnet MSTP/Modbus RTU/MP-Bus communication protocols and requires product ZTH EU for setting the protocol address and linking the actuator to the system. Furthermore, ZTH EU allows the setting of an analog 0-10V or 2-10V control signal. The actuator simultaneously positions the valve as the integrated capacitors are charged. In case of a power supply interruption, the valve automatically returns to the open/close position using stored electrical energy. The actuator has a durable plastic housing and has an IP54 protection rating. This actuator can operate within ambient temperatures between 0 and 50 °C (32 and 122 °F). The actuator comes with a 1-meter power cable.

Description
The actuator is equipped with overload protection, the actuator doesn't need limit switches and will stop automatically when the end stop is reached. During actuation, the stroke direction switch toggles the running direction in normal operation. However, it doesn't affect the preset fail-safe position. Manual override is possible with a push-button. The gear train disengages and the actuator decouples for the duration the button is pressed. Stroke adjustments can be made using a 5mm hexagon socket screw key inserted at the top of the actuator, with the stem extending when turned clockwise. The actuator can be directly mounted on the globe valve using form-fit hollow clamping jaws and it can be rotated 360° on the valve neck. The actuator moves the valve to the desired operating position simultaneously as the integrated capacitors charge. If the power supply is interrupted, the valve shifts to the chosen fail-safe position using the stored electrical energy. The actuator comes with an inbuilt interface for BACnet MSTP, Modbus RTU, and MP-Bus. It obtains the digital control signal from the control system and provides the present status. The default factory setting retracts the actuator stem. When shipping valve-actuator combinations, the motion direction is set based on the valve's closing point. The capacitor actuators require a pre-charging period to bring the capacitors to a usable voltage level. This ensures that, in case of a power failure, the actuator can move from its current position into the fail-safe position at any time. The rotary knob fail-safe position allows for adjustment of the preferred fail-safe position. The adjustment range is based on the actuator's maximum stroke height. In case of power failure, the actuator moves to the chosen fail-safe position considering a factory set bridging time of 2 seconds. Post-factory delivery, the actuator is fully discharged and requires about 20 seconds of pre-charging before initial setup to attain the necessary voltage level in the capacitors.
Pros:
- The actuator is equipped with a fail-safe feature
- Modulating actuator with fieldbus or a 0-10 V/2-10 V signal
- Manual override
- The actuator is overload protected
- Visual position indicator
Cons:
- Product ZTH EU needed (not included) to set protocol address and link the actuator to the system
- The time to open/close of 150 s is slow for some applications
