Festo Actuators and Drivers
Festo actuators and drives are essential for factory automation, offering solutions for a wide variety of applications. Pneumatic drives are particularly easy and cost-efficient to commission, making them ideal for tasks such as clamping, lifting, lowering, gripping, and stopping. Servo-pneumatic positioning systems provide controlled pneumatic positioning technology, while electric actuators offer flexible linear or rotary positioning for automation technology.
Pneumatic cylinders from Festo include piston rod cylinders, rodless cylinders (linear drive), swivel cylinders, tandem, multi-position, and stopper cylinders, as well as clamping and tensioning cylinders. These drives are available with linear guidance, and bellows and diaphragm cylinders. Standards-based cylinders come with standardized dimensions and mounting interfaces, ensuring compatibility and ease of integration. Notable standards include ISO 6432 for round design, ISO 21287 for compact design, and ISO 15552 for profile and tie rod cylinders.
Festo's servo-pneumatic positioning systems, now in their third generation, consist of a cylinder with displacement encoder, a proportional directional control valve, and a positioning controller/axis controller. Additional components such as separate displacement encoders, sensor interfaces, and cables are also available. These systems are cost-effective for moving masses greater than 10 kg, making them suitable for "soft" positioning technology.
In the realm of electric actuators, Festo offers electric axes, cylinders, mini slides, semi-rotary drives, stoppers, handling modules, and various accessories. Differentiation of drive types, such as spindle drive or toothed belt drive, and guide types, including plain-bearing guide, recirculating ball bearing guide, and roller guide, are crucial considerations. These electric actuators are known for their robustness, rigidity, precision, and dynamics, achieving speeds up to 10 m/s, accelerations up to 50 m/s², and repeatability of +/-15 µm. Standard strokes up to 8.5 meters are available.
