Single Phase Transformers
A single-phase transformer is a device that transfers electric energy from one AC circuit to another AC circuit, either increasing or reducing the voltage. It is composed of two electric coils, a primary winding and a secondary winding. These coils are wrapped around a ferromagnetic iron circuit known as the "core". These coils are electrically isolated, but magnetically linked. When an electric current is passed through the primary winding, a magnetic field is formed. This induces voltage across the transformer’s secondary winding. Depending on the application, the single phase transformer can be used to step the voltage up or down at its output. This type of transformer provides high-efficiency and low losses.
