Doris began her career path while finishing her bachelor's degree, seeking to gain experience in technical work related to mechanical engineering and work with people, finding Tameson a suitable opportunity.

Experience at Tameson

It’s been really nice! Doris quickly learned all about the different products that Tameson offers and uses this knowledge to assist customers as good as possible. There are a lot of different aspects of the company that students can help out in, allowing for the development of new skills in many different areas. The atmosphere within the team is a highlight. During her time as a student, she developed a lot of soft skills, mainly in communication with external stakeholders, which is very valuable at Tameson due to frequent contact with customers via phone or email.

Main responsibilities

  • Working in the warehouse
  • Helping with shipping orders and processing customer returns
  • Assisting in sales, including customer advice, creating quotations, and processing orders

Work-related challenges

Doris has not faced very big challenges; most problems are solved by collaborating with more experienced colleagues.

Favorite product

The JP fluid 2-way solenoid valves. These were one of the first products Doris learned about when starting at Tameson. She likes the physics behind them, opening or closing using a magnetic field.

  • Activities: Running, hiking in nature, reading fiction books, playing the trumpet in various bands.
  • Books: Favorite genre is fantasy books.
  • Travel destinations: Vacationing in the mountains (skiing in winter, hiking in summer); aspires to visit Norway for nature hikes.
  • Music: Go-to playlist "HappyTimes," a mix of pop, rock, indie, and some Dutch party music.
  • Aspiration (Skills/Hobbies): To learn to play other musical instruments like drums, saxophone, bass, and french horn.
  • Meal: Lasagna.
  • Season: Spring, for its pleasant weather suitable for outdoor sports.
