The Separate air-termination tip is designed for protection against direct lightning strikes, particularly for free field photovoltaic systems and carports with a PV system. This equipment can be combined with connection clamps for steel girders. The air-termination tip mounts onto the metal substructure of the PV modules using two saddle clamps, ensuring a lightning current carrying contact. The set up requires a distance of 15 - 20 cm between the clamps and an 80 - 85 cm free length. Upon proper installation, a mechanical stability and a lightning current carrying capacity of 100 kA (10/350) is provided.
