As one of the first electrical companies, Eaton (then Hazemeyer) launched the home installation box to the market in 1932. This consumer unit was sold under the name Hajaliet and was made from the raw material Bakelite. Nearly 80 years after the first Hazemeyer consumer unit, and a number of Holec models later, Eaton Industries manufactures the consumer units from plastic under the name System 55. The name System 55 takes its name from the fact that the external height and width dimensions of all different types of cabinets in the range have a size multiple of 55mm. System 55 is a modular plastic cabinet system for assembling home connection combinations and switching and distribution devices for homes, retail businesses, offices, and practice rooms. Eaton Holec System 55 also includes cable entries for consumer units.
