This is a DN 50 Guillemin coupling with G 2'' male threads. It is made of aluminium with an NBR seal. The maximum pressure is 16 bar (232 psi). The coupling is suitable for temperatures between -10 to 80 °C (14 to 176 °F). Not equipped with a lock ring. A coupling with Gout a lock ring is often chosen on fixed installations.

The couplings adhere to NFE 29572 and EN 14420-8. Two identical couplings are joined by interlocking the jaws and turning the lock rings. Use a Guillemin wrench for sufficient closure.

Note: At least one of the two couplings needs to have a locking ring and only versions with locking rings have a soft seal. Typically, the fixed coupling (i.e. on a tank) won't have a locking ring and the other coupling (i.e. on a hose) will have a locking ring and soft seal.

Pros:

  • Simple and easy connection
  • Large free flow area
  • Aluminum couplings are lighter in weight than stainless steel
  • Suitable for water, fluids, hydrocarbons, chemicals, and dry loose materials

Cons:

  • Not suitable for steam and other gases
  • It does not have a locking ring and soft seal, so it needs to be coupled to one with that feature
