R1/2" Brass Throttle Valve with Silencer Compact
Notice: This product is discontinued and replaced by P2BCA
This brass pneumatic silencer throttle valve is used to vent pressurized air to the atmosphere at an adjustable flow rate. Through their design, they decrease the audible noise of vented pressurized air by increasing the surface area of the release of pressurized air. As it is a throttle valve, by turning the knob on top you can adjust the flow at which the air can exit through the silencer. It has a connection port of R1/2" male threads to screw into a port. It can handle an ambient temperature of 0 - 70 °C and an operating pressure range of 1 - 7 bars.

Description
This Mindman brass pneumatic silencer throttle valve, also called an adjustable pneumatic silencer or flow control silencer, is used to vent pressurized air to the atmosphere at an adjustable flow rate. Air exiting a pneumatic pressurized system can cause an audible noise, which can cause harm to workers or not meet application noise specifications. They decrease the audible noise by increasing the surface area of the release of pressurized air. As it is a throttle valve, it can function as a needle valve as well. By turning the knob, you can adjust the flow at which the air can exit through the silencer. This allows you to control the noise levels, but also by controlling the exit air you can affect the application (for example a pneumatic cylinder piston’s speed for retracting/extending). It has a connection port of R1/2" male threads to screw into a port. It can handle an ambient temperature of 0 - 70 °C and an operating pressure range of 1 - 7 bars. It can be tighten by a 22 mm wrench. Depending on your usage, you should incorporate a silencer cleaning schedule into the system maintenance planning. Remove the silencer and rinse it under lukewarm tap water. Then use compressed air to blow away any remaining dirt particles. Do this from outside to inside instead of the usual inside to outside.
Pros:
- Decreases the noise of exiting pressurized air to keep workers safe and application noise specifications correct
- You can adjust the flow rate through the throttle valve to adjust noise levels or affect application performance
Cons:
- Decreased flow rate, however, it is minimal
- It is not a flat design, so it has a protrusion that takes up space
MSLC Series
The Mindman MSLC series products not only safely vent pressurized air to the atmosphere, but also has an adjustable knob to control the flow rate through the silencer. This allows it to also affect the application performance (i.e. a pneumatic piston extending/retracting) and decrease audible noise to a safe level. They are made out of brass or stainless steel and have a cylindrical shape.
