Pneumatic Actuator Spring Opening 20Nm ISO 5211 F07 14 mm PAL 012
This pneumatic actuator allows you to control quarter turn (ball or butterfly) valves with compressed air generating 20 Nm of torque at 6 bar, but it has a control pressure window of 6-10 bar to increase/decrease torque. Compatible with ISO 5211 F07 valves. It is spring open and has a reliable rack and pinion system. The ambient temperature range is -20°C to 80°C and it has ATEX (EX II 2GD c) certification. The actuator has G 1/4 inch air ports and a 1/4 inch Namur interface to directly mount a solenoid valve.

Description
Adding a pneumatic actuator to a ball or butterfly quarter turn valve allows them to be remote controlled with compressed air to increase system automation. Pneumatic actuators are a reliable solution to control larger valves at a relatively low investment cost. These valves commonly have an ISO 5211 mounting flange, so they are prepared for an actuator. This actuator is compatible with ISO 5211 F07 valves and has a 14 mm star connection for square drive shafts. The shaft size can be reduced using adapters. Please carefully check the datasheet and the flange dimensions of your valve, as there are many variations on the market. This actuator generates 20 Nm of torque at 6 bar, but it has a control pressure window of 6-10 bar to increase/decrease torque. The actuator is single acting spring open to conserve on compressed air and it returns automatically to starting position in case of air or power loss. It is designed with a reliable aluminum rack and pinion rot ational operation. Using throttle valves on the outlet ports (after the solenoid valve) allows the adjustment of the rotational speed. These actuators are durable with an anodized aluminum housing and an aluminum cover. Due to the NBR seal, the temperature range is -20°C to 80°C. The actuator has G 1/4 inch ports for the air supply and return. We recommend mounting a 1/4 inch Namur solenoid valve directly onto the actuator to control the air supply. Please note that 1/4 refers to the Namur size of the valve, not the port size. Also, a position control or limit switch box can be mounted on the top of the actuator according to VDI/VDE 3845. The actuator is ATEX certified (EX II 2GD c) and may therefore be used in potentially explosive environments.
Pros:
- Single acting conserves compressed air and the valve will return to initial position in case of air or power loss.
- Suitable for most quarter turn valves with ISO 5211 F07.
- Ability to directly mount a Namur solenoid valve to reduce fittings and tubing.
- Optional FKM seal to increase max temperature.
- ATEX (EX II 2GD c) certified for explosive environments.
- Fast opening/closing.
- Mechanical indicator on top shows the valve position.
- Can be equipped with a limit switch box.
Cons:
- Single acting gives less control than double acting actuators.
- Requires compressed air system and a solenoid valve to control the air supply.
- Energy consumption is higher than compared with electric actuators.
PAL Series
The PAL quarter turn pneumatic actuators allow you to control ball or butterfly valves with compressed air. They offer a reliable and robust solution to automate larger valves at a lower investment cost than electric actuators. They are mounted onto quarter turn valves with an ISO 5211 top flange (from F03 up to F12). With 8 different body sizes, they generate a torque range from 4.5 Nm to 802 Nm at 6 bar. Designed with a reliable aluminum rack and pinion rotational operation and designed to be either single acting (spring open or spring close) or double acting for increased control. These actuators are durable with an anodized aluminum housing and either an acetal resin (sizes 1-6) or aluminum (sizes 12-130) cover. The standard temperature range is -20°C to 80°C with an NBR seal, but an optional FKM seal is available for an increased maximum temperature of 120°C (sizes 1-6) or 150°C (sizes 12-130). All valves have a G 1/4 inch Namur interface according to VDI/VDE 3845 with either G 1/8 inch or G 1/4 inch threads. The actuator is suitable for explosive environments thanks to the ATEX (EX II 2GD c) certification.
Note: No mounting materials included.
