Burkert 2/2 way solenoid valve (type 6240) with G 1/4 inch threads and a 110 V AC coil. The circuit function of the solenoid valve is normally closed (voltage = open). The semi-direct operating valve opens without needing differential pressure and requires only a slight pressure differential for full opening. Suitable for max media temperatures of 140 °C (284 °F) and a pressure range of 0 - 25 bar (363 psi). Housing of stainless steel with PTFE sealing and a 6 mm orifice. The Kv-value is 0.6 m3/h (10.0 l/min at dp = 1 bar water).

Note: DIN connector not included.

This is a Burkert semi-direct operating 2/2 way solenoid valve with G 1/4 inch threads and a 110 V AC coil. The valve has a stainless steel housing with PTFE sealing and an orifice size of 6 mm. The circuit function of the solenoid valve is normally closed, which means the valve opens when voltage is applied. The semi-direct operating valve opens without needing differential pressure and requires only a slight pressure differential for full opening. Suitable for a pressure of 0 - 25 bar (363 psi) and a maximum temperature of 140 °C (284 °F). The valve has a Kv-value of 0.6 m3/h, this translates to a flow rate of 10 l/min at a differential pressure of 1 bar (for water). In imperial units: Cv = 1, which means 1 GPM @ 1 psi pressure drop. For many applications it is enough to select a valve based on the thread size and orifice diameter. For more accurate sizing, use the Kv-value with our easy to use valve sizing calculator. The stainless steel housing is very durable, strong and resistant to a wide range of chemicals with the exception of chloride solutions. The PTFE (polytetrafluoroethene or teflon) sealing, is resistant to almost all media. Please note that the internal valve parts, such as the stainless steel plunger and springs, are also in contact with the medium and must be chemically compatible. Consult our chemical resistance chart to verify compatibility of housing and seals with the medium. The valve has an IP65 rating if properly connected.

Pros:

  • Good protection against the environment thanks to the IP65 rating
  • More reliable and durable thanks to the piston design instead of a rubber membrane
  • Solenoid valves open and close very fast compared to many other valve types

Cons:

  • Solenoid valves are very sensitive to dirt and can only be used with clean liquids and gases
  • The coil may get hot when energized. A well ventilated environment is recommended

Series:

The Bürkert valve type 6240 is a 2/2-way semi-direct operated solenoid valve with a compact design and internal orifice diameters of up to DN 13. The special fluidic form of the valve body allows for high flow rates, and the semi-direct operation enables suitability for applications with zero differential pressure in the system. Semi-direct operation is also referred to as servo assisted operation. The 6240 makes use of a piston instead of the typical rubber membrane, which makes the valve suitable for more demanding circumstances. The spring coupling of the pilot valve to the piston of the main valve allows for gentle opening and closing of the valve, which provides for a long service life. This 2/2-way piston valve includes a variety of certifications and a diverse range of tested body and seal materials. The type 6240 works in various applications, including specialty versions for low temperatures (-30°C), high-pressure, explosion protection, and steam.
