Burkert 2/2 way solenoid valve (type 6407) with 1/2 inch NPT threads and a 120 V AC coil. The circuit function of the solenoid valve is normally closed (voltage = open). The semi-direct operating valve opens without needing differential pressure and requires only a slight pressure differential for full opening. Suitable for max media temperatures of 150 °C (302 °F) and a pressure range of 0 - 10 bar (145 psi). Housing of brass with PTFE sealing and a 13 mm orifice. The Kv-value is 3.4 m3/h (56.68 l/min at dp = 1 bar water).

Note: DIN connector not included.

This is a Burkert semi-direct operating 2/2 way solenoid valve with 1/2 inch NPT threads and a 120 V AC coil. The valve has a brass housing with PTFE sealing and an orifice size of 13 mm. The circuit function of the solenoid valve is normally closed, which means the valve opens when voltage is applied. The semi-direct operating valve opens without needing differential pressure and requires only a slight pressure differential for full opening. Suitable for a pressure of 0 - 10 bar (145 psi) and a maximum temperature of 150 °C (302 °F). The valve has a Kv-value of 3.4 m3/h, this translates to a flow rate of 57 l/min at a differential pressure of 1 bar (for water). In imperial units: Cv = 4, which means 4 GPM @ 1 psi pressure drop. For many applications it is enough to select a valve based on the thread size and orifice diameter. For more accurate sizing, use the Kv-value with our easy to use valve sizing calculator. The brass housing is durable, suitable for neutral fluids and resistant to many chemicals. The PTFE (polytetrafluoroethene or teflon) sealing, is resistant to almost all media. Please note that the internal valve parts, such as the stainless steel plunger and springs, are also in contact with the medium and must be chemically compatible. Consult our chemical resistance chart to verify compatibility of housing and seals with the medium. This valve is certified to comply with UR Component standard. The valve has an IP65 rating if properly connected. The valve is equipped with a "kick-and-drop" function, which provides a high inrush current to switch the valve and then reduces to a low holding current to keep the valve in position. This results in a significant reduction in power consumption.

Pros:

  • Suitable for media with a high temperature (> 150 °C (302 °F)
  • Peak-and-hold electronics enable low energy consumption by delivering a high current to open the valve, which then decreases to a low holding current
  • Good protection against the environment thanks to the IP65 rating
  • Solenoid valves open and close very fast compared to many other valve types

Cons:

  • Solenoid valves are very sensitive to dirt and can only be used with clean liquids and gases
  • The coil may get hot when energized. A well ventilated environment is recommended

Series:

The Bürkert type 6407 valve is a piston valve that is servo-assisted and can open without a pressure difference due to the fixed coupling between the pilot valve and piston. The valve is suitable for use with gases, steam, and liquids with operating temperatures below 0°C. The stopper and core guide pipe are welded together, which enhances pressure resistance and leak-tightness. Depending on the application, there are various seal material combinations available. Energy-efficient coils with "Kick and Drop" (KD) electronics (double coil technology) are available to reduce power consumption during operation. The coils are made from chemically resistant epoxy. When used with a plug that conforms to DIN EN 175301-803 Form A, the valve offers IP65 degree of protection. A vibration-resistant push-over coil system makes the Type 6407 valve a reliable and safe option, with explosion-proof options available. It can accommodate orifices up to DN50.
