Burkert 2/2 way solenoid valve (type 0142) with 1/2 inch NPT threads and a 120 V AC coil. The valve can be set to Normally Closed (default setting) or Normally Open. The valve is indirect operating, so a small differential pressure required. Suitable for max media temperatures of 50 °C (122 °F) and a pressure range of 0.5 - 6 bar (7 - 87 psi). Housing of PVC with EPDM sealing and a 15 mm orifice. The Kv-value is 5000 m3/h (83350.0 l/min at dp = 1 bar water).

Note: DIN connector not included.

This is a Burkert indirect operating 2/2 way solenoid valve with 1/2 inch NPT threads and a 120 V AC coil. The valve has a PVC housing with EPDM sealing and an orifice size of 15 mm. The circuit function of the solenoid valve is normally closed, which means the valve opens when voltage is applied. However, the function can easily be changed between NC and NO by rotating the pilot valve on the top side by 180 degrees. Suitable for a pressure of 0.5 - 6 bar (7 - 87 psi) and a maximum temperature of 50 °C (122 °F). The valve has a Kv-value of 5000 m3/h, this translates to a flow rate of 83350 l/min at a differential pressure of 1 bar (for water). In imperial units: Cv = 5780, which means 5780 GPM @ 1 psi pressure drop. For many applications it is enough to select a valve based on the thread size and orifice diameter. For more accurate sizing, use the Kv-value with our easy to use valve sizing calculator. The PVC housing is strong and lightweight and resistant to many chemicals, acids and alkali. The EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber) sealing is suited for neutral fluids and many chemicals, but it has poor resistance to oils and fats. Please note that the internal valve parts, such as the stainless steel plunger and springs, are also in contact with the medium and must be chemically compatible. Consult our chemical resistance chart to verify compatibility of housing and seals with the medium. The valve has an IP65 rating if properly connected.

Pros:

  • Good protection against the environment thanks to the IP65 rating
  • Solenoid valves open and close very fast compared to many other valve types
  • Diaphragm designed to separate aggressive and contaminated media

Cons:

  • Not suited for low pressure differentials (< 0.5 bar). In case of low pressure or a vacuum, consider a (semi-)direct solenoid valve
  • The coil may get hot when energized. A well ventilated environment is recommended

Series:

The Bürkert 0142 valve is an indirect-operating valve with a port diameter from DN 15 up to DN 50 with true union glued sleeves. A minimum differential pressure of 0.5 bar is required for this indirect-operating valve to function. The housing is made of PVC as standard. PVDF is available on request and suitable for higher temperatures than PVC. The default options for sealing materials are EPDM and FKM. The separation of the medium with the valve's working parts makes it a good solution for aggressive or slightly contaminated media. The valve opens and closes by moving a flexible membrane. The 3/2-way pilot valve can be easily converted from normally closed to normally open functioning principle by rotating the main seat 180 degrees. All 0142 valves come with a with manual override for commissioning and testing. An electrical position feedback is optional.
