Brand: Burkert

Burkert 2/2 way solenoid valve (type 6223) with 3/4 inch NPT threads and a 24 V DC coil. Designed for proportional flow control. The circuit function of the solenoid valve is normally closed (voltage = open). The valve is indirect operating, so a small differential pressure required. Suitable for max media temperatures of 90 °C (194 °F) and a pressure range of 0.5 - 10 bar (7 - 145 psi). Housing of brass with FKM sealing and a 20 mm orifice. The Kv-value is 5.4 m3/h (90.02 l/min at dp = 1 bar water).

Note: DIN connector not included.

This is a Burkert indirect operating 2/2 way solenoid valve with 3/4 inch NPT threads and a 24 V DC coil. Designed for proportional flow control through a PWM signal. The duty cycle of the signal determines the coil current, which directly correlates to the plunger position. Optionally, the valve can also be driven with DC voltage. The valve has a brass housing with FKM sealing and an orifice size of 20 mm. The circuit function of the solenoid valve is normally closed, which means the valve opens when voltage is applied. Suitable for a pressure of 0.5 - 10 bar (7 - 145 psi) and a maximum temperature of 90 °C (194 °F). The valve has a Kv-value of 5.4 m3/h, this translates to a flow rate of 90 l/min at a differential pressure of 1 bar (for water). In imperial units: Cv = 6, which means 6 GPM @ 1 psi pressure drop. For many applications it is enough to select a valve based on the thread size and orifice diameter. For more accurate sizing, use the Kv-value with our easy to use valve sizing calculator. The brass housing is durable, suitable for neutral fluids and resistant to many chemicals. The FKM (fluorine rubber or Viton) sealing has excellent chemical properties, is suited for most oils and solvents but it cannot handle hot water or steam. Please note that the internal valve parts, such as the stainless steel plunger and springs, are also in contact with the medium and must be chemically compatible. Consult our chemical resistance chart to verify compatibility of housing and seals with the medium. The valve can be proportionally controlled by using a digital controller such as, for example, the Bürkert 8605 or 8611 types. The valve has an IP65 rating if properly connected.

Pros:

  • Good protection against the environment thanks to the IP65 rating
  • Solenoid valves open and close very fast compared to many other valve types
  • Control enabled with PWM signal

Cons:

  • Not suited for low pressure differentials (< 0.5 bar). In case of low pressure or a vacuum, consider a (semi-)direct solenoid valve
  • Solenoid valves are very sensitive to dirt and can only be used with clean liquids and gases
  • The coil may get hot when energized. A well ventilated environment is recommended

Series:

The Bürkert 6223 is an indirect-operated proportionally controlled valve and is primarily used for flowrate control for large flowrates with relatively high open and close frequencies. Opening and closing rely on the pressure difference between the inlet and outlet ports. Therefore, always a minimal pressure differential is required. The valve works from 0.5 to 10 bar and the port size varies from 3/8 " to 1 ". The orifice sizes can be DN 10, DN 13 or DN 20. The flow can be controlled using a digital controller (for example the Bürkert 8605 or 8611). Please note that the size of the valve may be more critical in flow control setups. For advice on which valve to choose and if the 6223 valve is right for you, please read our article about proportional solenoid valves or contact our technical support.
