Bürkert S020 insertion fittings for 8025, 8041 and 8045 flow meters

The Bürkert S020 is an insertion fitting: a pipe body with a single port and no measuring element of its own. It gives the probe of an insertion meter, the 8025, 8041, or 8045, a sealed way into the pipe. The meter has the sensor, so the S020 only has to give the right connection to the line and the right material for the liquid. The S020 is required, not optional: it sets the probe position and carries the pipe-specific K-factor the meter needs to read flow correctly. Without the matching S020 the meter has no valid K-factor and cannot measure.

Selecting an S020

Choose the S020 by its pipe connection and body material. Pick the connection the line uses:

  • Weld end and welded sleeve: welded permanently into the line
  • Inner or outer thread: screws into a threaded pipe
  • Clamp: quick release for lines that are cleaned or stripped down
  • Flange: bolts to a flanged pipe
  • Solvent-bonded socket: glued into a plastic pipe (PVC, PP, or PVDF)

Match the body material to the liquid and the pipe: stainless steel and brass for metal lines, and PVC, PP, PVDF, or PE for plastic lines and corrosive liquids. The seal is FKM or EPDM: EPDM for water and hot water, FKM for oils and many chemicals.

Frequently asked questions

Does the S020 measure flow?

No. The S020 is only the mounting point. The measuring probe belongs to the 8025, 8041, or 8045 meter that inserts through it. Without one of those meters, the S020 does not measure anything.

Can the 8025 be screwed into any 2-inch fitting?

No. The G2" thread on the meter is only there to fasten it into the S020. A generic 2-inch fitting does not have the S020 bore and geometry, so the K-factor and the probe position are wrong, and a tapered NPT port will not seal against the parallel G thread. The meter measures correctly only in a matching S020.

How is the S020 different from the S030?

The S030 has a paddle wheel built into the fitting and works with the SE transmitters. The S020 is a bare port for a meter that has its own probe. Use an S020 with the 8025, 8041, and 8045 insertion meters, and an S030 with the SE30, SE32, and SE35 transmitters.

Which material for a plastic pipe or a corrosive liquid?

PVC, PP, and PVDF bodies suit plastic pipework and corrosive liquids, while stainless steel and brass suit metal lines. The body is in constant contact with the liquid, so matching it to the medium is the main choice.
