Tameson Sponsorship
Sponsorship is an important part of Tameson's DNA. We apply our sponsorships in two specific areas. We offer students the chance to earn a scholarship, while Tameson also sponsors projects where electromechanical valve technology is applied in an educative, useful or simply fun way. For these projects, we provide a wide variety of fluid control products that will help an organization to achieve their goals.
Below you will find a wide selection of projects in which Tameson has been involved by providing both materials and know-how.
TU Delft Solar Boat Team
Jomi, the team's Cooling and Steering Engineer
One of the projects which exemplify Tameson's efforts to sponsor educational and useful projects is the Solar Powered Boat Team from the renowned Technical University in Delft. Tameson sponsored the team with some needle valves that were fitted on their boat. The team from the university participates in The Monaco Solar & Energy Boat Challenge which is an international challenge that welcomes students and professionals from across the world to race in three different classes: Energy, Solar and Open Sea Class.
The team's goal is to work together with the maritime sector to accelerate the transition to green energy. There is still a lot to be gained in this sector and by thinking together with the maritime world and innovating in the field of sustainability, they can contribute to a better and greener future. In the picture on the right we see Jomi, the team's Cooling and Steering Engineer hard at work with one of Tameson's needle valves. You can follow the team on everything they are doing on their website. Have a look at the team and their solar-powered boat in action in the below video.
Mercy Ships
Mercy Ships helps people in the poorest developing countries by giving them free access to medical care. The international aid organization has been active since 1978 and operates through a floating hospital, called the Africa Mercy. This ship has been used since 2007. The Africa Mercy is approximately 10 months a year in a West African developing country to have a maximum impact there.
The ship Africa Mercy
Onboard are hundreds of volunteers from over 50 nations, including surgeons, nurses, and doctors which treat serious diseases. Ashore, training is given in the fields of health and agriculture. It is the largest non-governmental hospital ship in the world, effectively more than doubling the annual medical capacity of her predecessors.
To contribute to Mercy Ships' important mission, Tameson has donated solenoid valves that are used in the ship's engine room to start the engine. Have a look below at what Nelson Mandela had to say about the important work Mercy Ships does every day:
Educational project Fontys ICT Eindhoven
Tameson supports students who participate in ICT projects from the Fontys schools. Tameson donated solenoid valves, fittings, and pipes for the development of an app-controlled cocktail mixer. The project is related to four fields of study: Media, Software, Technology and Business. The students' idea was an automatic cocktail mixer. The project named TITO consists of several parts, such as an app for the phone to control TITO and of course, the device itself made with Lego Mindstorms and an EV3 robot. In TITO, drinks are prepared by magnetic valves selectively mixing drinks from six bottles in a glass.

Team Eindmaas- University of Applied Sciences Rotterdam
Team EindMaas, a team of the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, is one of the teams taking part in the sixth edition of project 'Zeeslag' (Battleship). This project aims to make young talented people think about autonomous and emission-free boating. Two student teams compete against each other to remove plastic waste from the water. For this purpose, the ships the students designed and built are built on scale. These ships are remote controlled and the steering of the ship of Team Eindmaas is done using Tameson's electric ball valves. The teams are composed of students of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Computer Science. For more information on this project have a look at the groups Facebook page.
Tractorpulling RET-innovation
Tameson has sponsored high-pressure solenoid valves for the fuel injection systems of the tractor pulling team 'Woody Woodpecker' from the Netherlands. More information about the tractor and the team can be found on the website of the team: Team Woody Woodpecker
Structural Ice (Eindhoven University of Technology)
Structural Ice is a research group from Eindhoven University of Technology focusing on composite ice materials and ice constructions. The largest ice dome and biggest ice tower in the world were built in previous years. This year the team will build the first printed grid shell dome in the world in Harbin, China. Tameson has sponsored a student project with several automated ball valves that are used in the ice generating equipment.

Scoutinggroup Admiraal de Ruyter
Scoutinggroup Admiraal de Ruyter are a scouting group mostly focussed on activities on the water. With a clubhouse next to the Lek river the club spends a lot of time out on the water. With the presence of currents and commercial traffic, it requires extra effort to keep it all safe. One of the means the scouting group uses for this is a tugboat.
However, over the years the fleet of small boats has grown which means the old tug could no longer cope. This year saw the launch of a new tugboat, which will now be outfitted by the scouting group. This means connecting all the electrics and making and designing the interior.
Tameson has offered both advice and materials in the building of the new tugboat. Below you can see a youtube video of the moment the new tugboat touched water for the first time. You can see more about the fascinating process of building a new ship on the Admiraal De Ruyter website.
