PVC ISO-Top Ball Valves (Solvent Sockets)
Explore Tameson's wide range of PVC ISO-top ball valves (solvent sockets) from various global manufacturers. ISO-top PVC ball valves have a standardized mounting flange according to ISO 5211 to mount an electrical or pneumatic actuator. Due to this standardization, different brands/types of actuators can be used to drive the valve. There are various flange sizes in the ISO 5211 standard, such as F03, F04, and F05. Ensure that the actuator uses the same flange size and diameter as the drive shaft. Both the input and output ports on this valve have a solvent socket connection. They slide into place (typically on a PVC pipe) and are fixed with the use of a solvent (glue).
PVC (Polyvinyl chloride) is suitable for corrosive media (seawater), most acids and bases, salt solutions, and organic solvents. However, PVC ball valves should not be used for aromatic or chlorinated hydrocarbon media applications. The material is lightweight, strong, and durable, giving it long service life. A plastic ball valve is often a cost-effective alternative to a metal housing (brass or stainless steel) as long as it is resistant to the media and the pressure/temperature range is suitable for PVC. A PVC ISO-top ball valve can be commonly seen in water management and irrigation applications. The temperature range is from -15 to 60 degrees C (5 to 140 degrees F), and it has a lower pressure rating when compared to a brass or stainless steel housing.
