Stainless Steel ISO-Top 3-Piece Ball Valves
Explore Tameson's wide range of stainless steel ISO-top 3-piece ball valves from various global manufacturers. The 2-way stainless steel ISO-top 3-piece ball valve is used in conjunction with an electric or pneumatic actuator. These ball valves are typically used for applications where the ball valve needs frequent cleaning. The 3-piece ball valve design allows the ball valve to easily come apart for cleaning, making it suitable for more aggressive or contaminated media applications. Instead of replacing a normal ball valve that is difficult to clean, a 3-piece ball valve easily comes apart for quick and thorough cleaning.
The ISO top allows the ball valve to be mounted with an electric or pneumatic actuator. The ball valve adheres to ISO 5211. Due to this standardization, different brands/types of actuators can be used to drive the valve. There are various flange sizes in the ISO 5211 standard, such as F03, F04, and F05. Ensure that the actuator uses the same flange size and diameter as the drive shaft.
A 3-piece ISO-top ball valve with a stainless steel housing has two ports (an inlet and an outlet) and a ball with a bore in it. They are operated by a manual hand lever to turn the ball 90 degrees, so they are often called quarter-turn ball valves or shut-off valves. Simply turn the handle perpendicular to the pipe to close it and parallel to open it. This allows for easy visual identification on whether a two-way ball valve is open or closed.
The ball valve's stainless steel housing makes them very durable and often a good housing material choice as it generally has a very good overall chemical resistance to almost any medium. Stainless steel is capable of working with aggressive media. These valves are also suitable for water, oil, compressed air, fuels, solvents, and vacuum. The material is highly wear, temperature, and pressure resistant. However, stainless ball valves are unsuitable for hydrochloric acids, chlorides, bromine, and household bleach. Swimming pool water has a low concentration of chlorides, and therefore stainless steel 316 can still be used.
